This month the National Safety Commission is celebrating National Safety Month. Several of the topics that the National Safety Commission has chosen to focus on this year are related to preventing personal injury related accidents. Each week the commission will focus on emphasizing a certain safety related topic. Next week (June 12 through June 18), the commission will emphasize “Teen Driving Safety”. The week after (June 19 through June 25), the commission will be emphasizing preventing slips, trips and falls.

A San Diego family mourned the death of their relative, a motorcyclist who was killed in the intersection of Pacific Highway and Cedar Street in 2009. The intersection was well known for its accident prone nature, and had been reported multiple times to the city as unsafe over the last twelve years.

On June 3, 2011 a teen was practicing driving with her father when she lost control and drove through a gate into a lot and eventually struck three pedestrians and a taco stand. The teen who was in the car with her father and another young teen in the back seat immediately fled the scene with the young girl in the back of the car.

On Sunday, June 5, 2011 a twenty four year old man was walking along the side of the road in Santa Clarita when he was struck by a vehicle. Witnesses had seen the young man walking along the road several minutes before the crash and stated that he was wearing dark clothing. His dark attire along with the lack of street lights along the road cause the driver of the Mercedes Benz not to see the young man.

In recent years it has become more and more difficult to achieve a successful resolution of an injury claim resulting from a minor impact. Seems like insurance companies are quicker than ever to deny a claim where they do not see either impressive photos of the impact or a high repair estimate. Due to a significant number of inflated injury claims presented by people, you can hardly blame them.
